Organisation

Zorgverzekeraars Nederland is an association. Nearly all Dutch healthcare insurers are a member of ZN. Former Vice-Prime Minister Hans Wiegel is President of the Board of Governors of the association.

The Board of Governors directs the bureau of the association. Pieter Hasekamp is CEO of the bureau and is assisted by Theo Hoppenbrouwers, Director of the Insurance Department. The bureau of ZN employs appr. 100 FTE. 

 

Insurance Department

The Insurance Department focusses on affairs concerning the relationship between the insurer and the insured, and matters which involve the insurers, supervisory bodies and the government. Emphasis is on anything related to insurance, implementation and finance. Other activities include translating changes in legislation and analysing them, and updating the budgeting model for the statutory health insurance funds. In addition, the department administers a number of files, such as 'reserves of the statutory health insurance funds', 'supervision of modernisation activities' and 'the code of conduct concerning good insurance behaviour'.

 

Care & Cure Department 

The Care & Cure Department is responsible for the general tasks which ensue from the representative functions of ZN. These are focused on, for example, the preparation and implementation of policy, compiling knowledge and skills, establishing and maintaining networks and providing service to individual members. In particular, communication with the members is an essential task. In part, these tasks are organised according to categories of care providers, but certain tasks go beyond these categories.

 

Communication and Documentation Department

The Communication and Documentation (C&D) Department is responsible for an active communication policy and the provision of up-to-date information. C&D is responsible for issuing the daily collection of newspaper cuttings and for publishing the ZN Journal. The department also manages the website and the ZN library and has the task of providing information to the press, maintaining contact with the political an regulatory stakeholders, issuing press releases and making statements on behalf of the Directors.

 

International Affairs Unit 

The International Affairs Unit is concerned with informing members on international developments. In addition, ZN participates in a large number of European committees, working groups and joint activities and is a member of several international umbrella organisations, including the Association Internationale de la Mutualité (AIM), and the Comité Européen des Assurances (CEA). 

 

General Affairs Department

The tasks of the General Affairs Department include finance, internal automation and internal services such as the post room/printing press, restaurant and reception. The department has an important supportive function in respect of other the departments of ZN. General Affairs is also responsible for the day-to-day running the well-equipped ZN meeting centre, where members meet in various committees. 

 

Employers' Affairs

The Employers' Affairs Department supports the members of ZN in their capacity of employer. The department effects the national collective bargaining agreement for the care insurers and provides support in the implementation of this agreement. The department answers queries from management and personnel staff on topics such as employment law, social insurance, assessment systems and remuneration policy. Furthermore, the department takes the initiative in developing relevant MBO and HBO (intermediate and higher) courses.
